Babyplast technology is designed for precision micro and small part injection molding, where accurate dosing, repeatability, material control and low material wastage are important.

The Babyplast system combines modular plasticization with a small piston and double plunger injection system. This allows precise and stable control of very small shot volumes, helping to achieve repeatable molding quality for micro components and high-value small plastic parts.

The Babyplast piston and double plunger system supports the molding of very small components, including applications with shot weights below 0.1 g, depending on material, mold design and processing requirements. This makes it suitable for medical micro parts, electronic components, precision engineering parts and other high-value small plastic components.

The system is designed to minimize material residence time and reduce friction during plasticization. This helps reduce the risk of material degradation during processing, especially for selected heat-sensitive materials, shear-sensitive materials, high-performance engineering plastics and specialty materials.

For many plastic material changeover applications, the Babyplast piston and plunger system can help reduce downtime compared with conventional screw-type machines that may require more complex material purging, screw cleaning or screw changes for certain materials and processing conditions. This can help reduce maintenance complexity and improve production flexibility, especially for low-volume, high-mix production, prototyping and material trials.

With the suitable Babyplast LSR configuration, dosing system and mold design, Babyplast can support LSR micro injection molding applications. This is especially useful for medical, healthcare and precision applications requiring small LSR components, soft-touch parts, seals, gaskets, membranes and overmolded components.

Babyplast also offers hybrid configurations for horizontal machines, vertical machines and UAI add-on injection units, providing flexible solutions for customers who require compact machine design, precise injection control and application-specific molding capability.

Babyplast UAI is an autonomous add-on injection unit designed to support 2K, 3K, overmolding and multi-component molding applications using a suitable standard injection molding machine. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the mold, machine platen or machine bed, depending on the application, mold design and machine layout.

The compact and lightweight design of the UAI injection unit makes it easier to set up on the mold compared with larger conventional injection units. In many applications, this can reduce the need for industrial lifting equipment during installation and set-up, subject to the specific UAI model, mounting arrangement and site safety requirements.

The compact size of the UAI also makes it suitable for production areas with limited floor space or ceiling height restrictions. This is useful for manufacturers who need to add a second or additional injection process but do not have space for a large multi-component injection molding machine.

The UAI solution is especially useful for manufacturers who currently have a single-barrel injection molding machine and want to add a second material or second injection process without investing immediately in a full two-component molding machine. It is also suitable for customers who already have a two-barrel machine but require 3K molding or an additional customized injection process on the production line.

For small shot volume applications, using a large two-barrel injection molding machine may sometimes create challenges such as longer material residence time, higher material wastage and increased risk of material degradation, especially when processing sensitive, high-performance or specialty materials. Babyplast UAI provides a compact and flexible alternative for adding a small, precise injection unit to support specialized molding requirements.

Babyplast UAI can support thermoplastic materials, MIM metal injection molding, CIM ceramic injection molding, LSR silicone, NBR rubber, Macromelt hotmelts and waxes, depending on the selected UAI configuration, material, mold design and processing requirement.
